Joey Merlino is a former Italian-American mobster who was the boss of the Philadelphia crime family from 1994 to 2011. Born on March 16, 1962, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Merlino became involved in organized crime at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks of the mafia.
Merlino was known for his flamboyant personality and run-ins with the law. He was arrested multiple times on charges ranging from racketeering to gambling, but managed to avoid lengthy prison sentences for much of his criminal career.
In 2001, Merlino was convicted of racketeering, but was released from prison in 2011. Since then, he has maintained a low profile and stayed out of trouble with the law.
Despite his criminal past, Merlino has garnered a certain level of notoriety and has been dubbed "The Last Don" for his leadership of the Philadelphia crime family. He currently resides in Florida and is believed to be retired from his life of crime.
